Although Medicare pays for "durable medical equipment," Medicare doesn't cover exercise equipment. However, exercise equipment may be tax deductible when prescribed by a physician. I would talk with your tax advisor about what is and what is not deductible.
With your back problems, you probably should have a rehabilitation professional show you safe exercises. A physical therapist could do this for you. It's possible that Medicare would cover physical therapy. I'd suggest that you ask the doctor who treats your spinal stenosis to refer you to a physical therapist.
