Hi

I hope this is the right place to post this… hi everyone I’m Janet I have type 1 diabetes and ESRD. I go to dialysis 3 times a week now. It’s not so bad though because the center is only 10 minutes from where I live. I never had to watch my diet so much before but lately I had to start pay more attention to it and I have discovered what a tedious job it is. I tell you, counting and weighing and measuring is not for me!!! I have a 3 year old boy that more or less dictates my life (all you parents must know what I mean…) and a supporting husband but I still feel so alone in this :(
As I said I’m kinda new in this whole computer thing… but as I was as they say “surfing” I found this fantastic site called Nutrimaps.com (I’ll try to put a link… not sure I know how…). It has many helpful features to manage a diet, like calculating what you eat and you can even enter tests and other stuff I haven’t really discovered yet…

So this is it (I hope :? ): https://www.nutrimaps.com/membersignin.aspx?returnurl=/default.aspx

PS- you need to register to enter but it’s free…

I would love to hear what’s your opinion about it.. I don’t really have anything to compare it too

Take care

Janet

Thanks for sharing this site as a resource for our visitors. I'll be very interested to hear if folks use it and find it as helpful as you have.

I have to point out, though, that if you do ANY form of dialysis other than in-center hemo, your diet (and fluids) will be MUCH less limited. When you have diabetes on top of kidney failure, this can really make a difference to your quality of life. There is also data now suggesting that people who do short daily home hemo live longer than those who do it for only 3-4 hours 3x/week. And, of course, long nocturnal dialysis has had the best survival outcomes in the world for more than 30 years.

Just something to think about. There is no "renal diet." It's an in-center hemo diet.
