Hi Mary,
I've never heard that either dialysis or a transplant is a reason for not being able to ride a horse. It would, of course, be best to avoid getting hit in the new kidney. Since they place transplanted kidneys in the abdomen, they are not as well-protected as native kidneys. Do you do a lot of trail riding and galloping?
Your doctor needs to be the final word about what is and isn't safe to do, so please do ask him or her about it, especially when would be best to start back up after your transplant and if there is any protective gear that you should wear to stay safe.

Mary, I'm in the same boat. Horses have been my life for well over 30 years. I will continue to ride and continue to be careful. My very best wishes to you.
