This may be very stupid, but do you stop peeing when you are on dialysis??

Hi Sam.

You have good questions and are also on the right track for dealing with kidney disease. I always say be positive. My moto is "The three most important things needed in dealing with a chronic illness is attitude, attitude and attitude". I am not a diabetic but I have been on dialysis for 33+ years. My two children were 4 and 6 when this all started. Now I have grand daughters aged 15 and 17 and a grand son age 6.

To answer the peeing question, that may continue but more then likely in a reduced amount. I had my kidneys removed because of high bloodpressure (not done a lot now days) and then peeing stoped.

You can travel and I personally recomend it. I always learn something when going to a different place. I am a hemo patient and therefore have to make arrangements for a different center when I go but there are many locations. I even dialyzed at two centers in Switzerland.

Of course I don't take much credit for my life success. I have a wonderful wife that never lets me give it up. She is truly the wind under my wings. There are some pros. here that will give you better answers also, such as details about the different dialysis types, pros and cons, etc. The more you learn the better you and your husband will do. Also no question is too small.

The best to you and any time I can help please contact me.

David
