I have lived with renal failure for 20 years, I had 2 transplants and waiting for a third. I wrote a book about my physical, emotional and spiritual struggles, the name is "The Courage to Live" by Camen Critchlow you can check it out on www.acornpublishing.com and go to "The Courage to Live" I know that you would learn a lot about renal failure from me. carmen

Hi Carmen,
Thank you for letting us know about your new book. Since no one at Life Options has had an opportunity to review it, we cannot endorse it per se. However, it sounds like you have a wealth of experience with kidney disease and I applaud your willingness to share this with others. Your title is great! I believe that along with courage, it takes hope, planning, knowledge, self-confidence, self-advocacy, support, and faith to survive and prosper with kidney failure. Apparently you have all these characteristics.

Anyone can tell me about the Fresenius USA, INC. ?
I've been on CAPD over 3 years, and was use Baxter solution ---everything was fine for me. Last year the kidney center which take care of me was bought by the Fresenius. Now we were told we have to change our supplier to Fresenius. I didn't feel so comfortable with it. Like to hear from someone know them before. TIA

Fresenius Medical Care of North America is a large corporation whose parent corporation is in Germany. FMC owns dialysis clinics that provide hemodialysis and train for home dialysis (including peritoneal dialysis), manufactures hemodiaysis and peritoneal dialysis equipment and supplies, offers laboratory services, has joint ventures with Optimal Renal Care and Renaissance Healthcare to do dialysis management, and is studying innovative treatments through Renal Research Institute. You can read more about FMC at www.fmcna.com/main.html.

Since you are uncomfortable about the purchase of your clinic by FMC and the change of companies providing your peritoneal dialysis supplies, I'd suggest you talk with your doctor or the staff at your clinic to find out more specific information about Baxter and FMC peritoneal dialysis products and services.
