what are some of the things I can expect with a level
this high, we are trying to get it down. i seemed
to be going down hill some. but manage to work full time. This is another issue how long do you work when
I don,t feel good. i do 11 1/2 hours a day of peritaneal
dialysis and I'am at work 9 hours. i don't know how long I can hold mentally. when it seems i don't have time for other things.
Thanks bill

If your creatinine is high, it's not surprising that you have fatigue. You could also have other symptoms of uremia such as poor appetite or nausea, sleep problems, difficulty remembering things, headaches, depression, etc.

From your question, I can't tell how long you've been on dialysis or whether the 11.5 hours of PD you're doing is in 4 exchanges during the day (CAPD) or overnight using a cycler (CCPD or APD).

If you started fairly recently, your body may still be adjusting to dialysis. It can take 1-2 months to start to feel better.

If you've been on a few weeks, I'd ask the nurse or doctor:
1) What is my dialysis adequacy? Your delivered Kt/V should be 2.0 for CAPD, higher for CCPD or NIPD.
2) How much natural kidney function do I have left (residual renal function test)? Over time your natural kidney function may decline. The less residual kidney function you have, the more dialysis is called upon to clean the wastes from your body.
3) What are the results of my PET test (how well your peritoneal membrane is functioning)? You could be a low transporter, average transporter, or high transporter. This test is used to decide what type of peritoneal dialysis is best for you.

The American Association of Kidney Patients has an advisory on peritoneal dialysis at www.aakp.org/pd-adv.htm.
