Guess what? I finally got an appointment with a nephrologist. I am very nervous. I hope I can ask all my questions without wimping out. I am bringing my husband with me for support and I have written out the questions I can think of. I also have diabetes, should I bring my last few blood sugar level readings? My urologist who did the surgery on my kidney has left my area. Would his records still be here or would he take them with him? (such as blood test results and all the renal scan results). Or would this guy just go by the referal letter sent by me primary Dr. (who had also left town). I could use some advice. Thank you.

I saw your other message under another topic area. It said your appointment was today. I hope that your nephrologist had the blood tests and kidney scan and didn't just rely on the referral letter from your primary doctor. If your doctor didn't have these tests, I hope that he/she asked you to sign a release to get copies of the results of these tests. If not, you might want to contact the place(s) where the scan and lab tests were done and ask them to send these tests to the nephrologist, assuming you felt confident in his/her ability and he/she listened and answered your questions to your satisfaction. Meanwhile, I assume that the nephrologist asked you about your diabetes regimen and how well it controls your blood sugar. Also, he/she probably reviewed your medications to see if you are taking the best medications to protect your kidneys. I suspect that he/she did other lab tests to learn your current status and see what's happened since your last lab draw.
